01What Note is

Note is the knowledge base in the CCI Suite: how-tos, fixes, manuals, network diagrams and site photos, all in one searchable place at note.pnw.com. It started as a tab in Orbit and now has its own site so Orbit stays fast.

Click ? Help at the top right of any screen to open the guide. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account.

Who can use Note

Note is for your technicians. Keep passwords out of articles and use a password manager.

Open Note from its address, or from the Note logo button in the header of any suite app. The Knowledge Base tab in Orbit opens Note in a new tab, and ticket links such as Related KB open the article in the same Note tab.

02Finding articles

Type in the search box to search titles, notes, tags, file names and the words inside PDF, Word and Excel files and photos. Narrow the list with the client filter, the type filter (notes only, PDF, Word / Excel, pictures, diagrams) and the topic buttons. A highlighted "found inside files" panel shows where your words appear.

03Reading an article

Click an article to open it. Commands written between lines of three backticks show a Copy button. Click an attached file to preview it, then use Open in new tab or Download.

  • Still correct records that you checked the article, so the Helm health tile knows it is current.
  • Articles tagged issue:<name> appear as the fix guide on the matching warning in Orbit System Monitors.

04Adding and editing

  1. Click + New Article, or Edit on an existing one.
  2. Enter a title, pick topics, choose the client (or General) and add tags.
  3. Write the notes: symptoms, cause, fix and commands.
  4. Add files by dragging them in, choosing them, or taking a photo. Click Save.

Upload Files and Photo create an article straight from files or camera pictures, which you can add notes to later.

05Deleting

Delete moves an article or file to Deleted. Items stay there for 15 days and can be restored.

06Administrators

Administrators also see Topics (edit the topic list), Starter articles, and the search settings: the search engine and a button to re-read files and rebuild the search index.

07Tips

  • Write the fix as soon as you solve a problem. In Orbit, use Save fix to KB on the ticket.
  • Use the same client name as in the client list so articles show under that client in Orbit.
  • If the page looks old after an update, press Ctrl + Shift + R.
